Certified Veterinary Technicians

A certified veterinary technician (CVT) is a person that is a graduate of an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited program and has passed a rigid national competency examination. The veterinary technician's main function is to be client educators, laboratory technicians, animal nurses and a professional assistant to the veterinarian.

Although not required by Florida law, Dr. Edwards strongly believes that non-certified individuals should not administer anesthesia, perform laboratory tests, or do any of the other exacting skills that certified veterinary technicians are trained to perform.
